Has anyone had success connecting a nintendo ds lite using 7404 vgp connected thru internode? The nintendo can find the wireless network with full signal strength, but when the connections is tested, the nintendo shows a red-outline box with a key symbol, and gives error code 51301, unable to connect to an access point. The 7404 has security disabled.

What settings should I use on the 7404?, or what settings should be entered manually into the nintendo?

mode setting is 802.11b firmware version 5.60c.rc1
Thanks

Only way I have found is to turn off all security on router, no wep /wpa and rely on mac filtering for wireless.
Other way is to have an access point with no security and just unplug it when not using ds

Any ideas as to why the ds can see the network, but still cannot pass the connection test? I have turned all security off.

If I try to set the ds manually, still no success. What settings should I use? Is the ip address of the LAN or my isp? Where can I get the correct address for IP subnet, gateway, primary and secondary dns from? Do you know if I have to use mac filtering

The DS should get ip,snm & dns from wireless connection of router.
As I said it only works with router wireless security set to NONE.
you dont need mac filtering but at least it gives a bit of wireless security, not much but some.

Finally got the Nintendo connected to the Billion 7404.

on the 7404 web page (192.168.1.254)

Go to LAN / wireless security
security mode: select WEP security
WEP authentication: select open system
WEP encryption: select WEP64, select ASCII
passphrase :blank
Default Used WEP Key: should already be set to 1
key 1 box: enter a 5 didt code

hit apply

on the Nintendo DS WI FI set up screen
type in your network SSID to do this, tap EDIT button
enter your 5 digit code, same as on the 7404
select auto-obtain IP address tap YES
scroll down to auto-Obtain DNS. select: NO (The auto mode does NOT seem to work at all except maybe momentarily)

From the 7404 Quick Start screen, find the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS codes
enter these two into the appropriate places on the Nintendo DS screen.
Test connection. Hopefully. it should connect successfully.
Save settings

Good Luck. After my boys have finished playing DS, I put the 7404 back to WPA mode. All its settings remain intact. Just hit Apply, an you're back to normal security
