How about starting a register of compatible VPN devices?

I have Billion connected to a Netscreen 50 using IPSEC VPNS via ADSL

Also have several 741Ge, 7402G and 743GE and 7500Gs all connected OK.

Have to reboot some routers every couple of weeks though....

I have not had much success with the PPTP VPNS or L2TP VPNs though ...

My business requirements are expanding and I need to know what VPN routers I can upgrade to . eg will the current Billion routers connect to a Cisco PIX 515E or a Netscreen 50 etc..

I think this will be a useful list.

I have a 7402W with VPN link to a Netcomm 5580W using IPsec and one to a Lynksys AG041 but the 7402W must initiate the link in both cases also windows 2000 , XP seem to go ok using PTPP to the 7402W

I've connected 7402R2 and 7402G Ipsec to IPCop 1.4.10 IPSec.

Seems to work well, except if Billion drops ADSL connection and then goes back online the IPCop end won't connect back without an IPSec restart. I may have solved the problem by setting Dead Peer Detection to "restart" on IPCop.

ZyXEL 662HW-61 IPsec tunnel to the 7402w but this will not work with the mask set to 255.255.0.0 it locks up (the ZyXEL) they want an IPsec tunnel for every subnet..

I should add that we should include the Firmware version on our compatibility matrix seeing as I am having problems with some of the new FW.

All my posts are valise for 5.04h for the 7402 and 7500G, and 4.58c for the 743Ge and 741Ge.

7402R2, firmware 5.07 <--> Watchguard X700 fireware 8.3
IPSEC 3DES/MD5 for Phase1+2
I had some compatability issues re PFS and Main/Agressive Mode settings, but now working fine.
Also needed to turn off expiry after xxxx KB (on WG), otherwise it would disconnect and take about 10 min to re-connect.

Throughput through the tunnel is up to 800KB/s (Internode ADSL 2+ synched at 20/1) with 1300 byte packets as tested with PCATTCP.

Currently stress-testing to see how stable it will be in real-life.

- Wolfgang.

I have 2 7500G's connected to a CyberGuard/SG570 using IPSec

Also have the problem where if ADSL connection drops and goes back online the IPSec won't connect back without an IPSec restart. This problem has been around for a *very* long time, are Billion ever going to fix it?

word. Billion, you're dragging your feet. This problem regularly crops up for me as well and "very long time" is putting it lightly.

Linksys RV042 / RV082 work well with BiGuard 30 in fact BiGuard 30 to Biguard 30 is no where near as stable as Biguard 30 to RV082.
